The Castle is a unique concept in safari style. Built with sumptuous river stones and lavishly decorated with an array of rustic sandstone and terra cotta tiles the lodge gracefully blends with the natural landscape. Native hardwood gothic doors compliment the interior and two thousand panes of glass, set meticulously into the castle walls, bathe the interior with warm natural light at all times of the day.
Each guest room has an exquisite view of the Ngorongoro forest which rolls majestically along the sides of the crater and extends for thousands of acres. Inside the Castle there is ample room for guests to relax and unwind after a memorable day on safari. A choice of two inviting living rooms and an additional upstairs library await you where you may put your feet up, light a fire or read a book. Should you prefer to sip a sundowner outdoors, dine al fresco or perhaps just recline and admire the scenery a host of enticing nooks and crannies await you including the elegant interior courtyard, our rooftop terrace or the wrap around terra cotta patio. A large hardwood deck by the edge of the forest also provides the perfect spot to enjoy the sunshine and get closer to nature.
Food & Drinks
Fresh, local and tasty is the motto at The Castle. The courtyard garden at The Castle supplies many of the organic fresh herbs and salads for the lodge kitchen. All the vegetables, fruit and other produce is sourced locally from the fertile farms in the immediate vicinity and our highly trained chefs relish the opportunity of treating you to their inventive, varied and irresistible home cooked dishes. Special diets and vegetarian requests may be catered for without any difficulty but advance notice must be provided.
